Acupuncture for Dogs??

Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to produce a healing response in the body. It involves the insertion of needles into certain points of the body where nerve bundles and blood vessels intersect. Through placement in these energy channels, the needles enhance blood circulation, release muscle spasms, and stimulate the release of endorphins and other hormones which causes the body to correct imbalances.

Ailments that greatly benefit from acupuncture are arthritis, hip dysplasia, nerve damage, disc disease, and chronic pain. It can also help with side effects of chemo, and other long term drugs.

In conjunction with other modalities, acupuncture can improve digestive issues, allergies, seizures, and anxiety.

Acupuncture is virtually painless for most animals, and many pets become relaxed when the needles are in place. But feelings of tingling or numbness can occur, so some animals may show discomfort from the new sensations. They can walk around and sometimes shake the needles out, but as long as we get that initial needle response, it’s effective!
